ATWR's Wiped

Open Powerlifting:

You have wiped both my single ply and multiply bench All time world records and as I was told based on a ‘complaint’by an ‘OG’ about the validity of the materials used.

Based on those the terms complaint and OG, I would like to ask these questions:

  • What makes the complaint valid?
  • What exactly defines an ‘OG’ or gives anyone the right to determine what material was used outside of the federation?
  • I challenge anyone outside the manufacturer to determine the material used at either meet. The federation counted the layers at check in and after every attempt.
  • Ultimately, will this hold up legally?

What you’ve done to me is directly unethical.

If one lifter is to be segregated for hypothetical illegal equipment, then I have an extensive list of additions for illegal equipment use and illegal lifts that we need to visit and wipe from the records. While we are at it we need to evaluate the following record steals:

  • Power bars vs. Specialty bar changes for records over the decades
  • 2 hour weigh ins vs. 24 hour weigh ins.
  • Single ply used to be a tight singlet rather than the poly single ply vs. The bs single ply briefs and single ply suit (no federation consistency) Many lifters have fallen down the record boards for these changes
  • Multiply- 2 and 3 pairs of briefs plus squats suits (no federation consistency)
  • Wraps and sleeves are not raw yet they’ve stolen raw records for years
  • poly shirts with knee wraps sewn in or just wrapped in the arm pits
  • No equipment checks for atw’rs at most meets
  • Walk outs vs. Mono lifts squats

I have been competing and coaching for 33 years and have been hauled around from gym to gym since I was little. Before all of the cameras, specialty bars and fancy equipment. We competed using wheel hubs with concrete poured in the hubs for squat racks. Knee wraps were ace bandages when necessary but rarley used and singlets were not always required.

I’ve had a pro total since I was 15 (181# 440/278/450) but you'll never see that or my other youth meets online either. I’ve seen things that most people will never have the opportunity to witness and never have been recorded. I was raised by a true ‘OG’ not a self proclaimed one. The man lifted with Kuc, Jim Williams, Arnold’s crew in California and produced athletes and gym owners. My father pressed 500# raw until he was 70 years old but never wanted attention or recordings of it. I am different than my father. I want my kids to know how hard I’ve worked not be pushed into the background for the work that I’ve done by big mouths and bullies. When I walk into a room people grumble or shake my hand.I am know for both my raw and equipped strength but I hope more importantly, my coaching. I am 48 years old, this strength world is tough, especially for a woman but I am no shrinking violet as I was as a kid.

In closing I do want to thank you all for the work that you do in data collection and inputting. I’d like to add that lifters from different eras cannot be compared to each other. Each lifting era acts like they are the most elite but are merely thieves of time past. Time makes the evolution of optimal equipment, information and supplementation better but humans remain the same. That is until genetic modification comes into play. Then, records will fall across the board.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed,
